Dr. Melissa Harbrücker is a resident in surgery at the University Medical Center Mannheim, Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University. Her clinical and scientific focus is on surgical oncology, with a particular interest in sarcoma surgery and multimodal treatment strategies for rare cancers.
She studied medicine in Mannheim (2015–2021) and completed her doctoral degree in February 2024 with research on biomarkers in right heart failure. Since 2022, she has been pursuing her surgical training, and in April 2024 she joined the TETRIS project as a Clinician Scientist, supported by the DKFZ Hector Seed Funding program.
Her research interests include innovative treatment approaches for rare cancers, translational oncology, and the role of biomarkers in oncology. She has authored peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, for example a study on biomarkers in heart failure.
Dr. Harbrücker is dedicated to advancing patient care for rare tumor entities through interdisciplinary collaboration and research-driven innovation.
