Melanie Perez is a rising biomedical researcher whose academic and scientific journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing cancer therapeutics and molecular biology. A graduate of Florida International University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, she distinguished herself through rigorous honors programs and research experience across institutions, including Duke University, Vanderbilt, and the University of Minnesota. As a PRIME PREP Scholar at Duke School of Medicine, she explored the role of canine-derived exosomes in osteosarcoma progression and contributed to understanding the synergistic effects of dual inhibition therapies for osteosarcoma. Melanie is currently pursuing a career as a physician scientist to gain clinical expertise to enhance insights into research in the direct context of patient care and, through this, provide patients with a better prognosis and quality of life.
