Senior oncologist/Senior lecturer
Oncology Department, Sharett Institute for Oncology, Hadassah Medical Center & Faculty of Medicine, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Israel, Israel
I am a senior medical oncologist in the Hadassah Medical Center and senior lecturer in the Hebrew University medical center. I am interested in translating DNA characterization to oncological care. In the past several years a team of biologist and clinicians centered in the Hebrew University – Hadassah medical center have formed a unique team. By characterizing the epigenetic traits of the cells comprehensive and exact monitoring of disease states is currently applied to diverse clinical scenarios including cancer screening; identifying cancer origin; extent of disease, detecting treatment targets and monitoring treatment efficacy. Utilizing Nanopore low coverage whole genome DNA sequencing we developed a sarcoma classifier based on DNA methylation and characterize the cellular composition of cfDNA. In these collaborations, my role is defining the clinical need and research questions; develop novel methods; perform the experiment, analyze the data, build clinical databases and coordinate sample collection.
