General Surgery Resident Physician
West Virginia University Department of Surgery
I was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky located in the southcentral portion of the state. I attended the University of Kentucky upon completion of high school where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology in addition to a minor in Psychology. While completing my undergraduate studies, I participated in three years of basic science research in the lab of Dr. Tianyan Gao evaluating the cell signaling pathways that are involved in the tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer. Thereafter, I elected to stay in Lexington and obtained my Medical Doctorate degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. At the end of my tenure in medical school, I achieved a residency match in general surgery at West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown, West Virginia. I am currently in my third year of residency training at WVU and have a career interest in surgical oncology.
