Prof. Emanuela Palmerini is Full Professor of Sarcoma Research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, USA. An internationally recognized medical oncologist, she specializes in bone and soft tissue sarcomas, with over two decades of clinical and translational research experience.
She previously spent nearly 20 years at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli in Bologna, Italy, where she led clinical trials research within the Osteoncology, Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas, and Innovative Therapies Unit. Prof. Palmerini has served as principal or co‑investigator in more than 30 clinical trials and has pioneered studies on tumor microenvironment, immunotherapy, and novel therapeutic strategies for rare sarcomas.
Her leadership roles span multiple international collaborations, including board membership of the European Musculo‑Skeletal Oncology Society (EMSOS), co‑chairing the European Osteosarcoma Consortium (FOSTER), and active participation in ASCO, ESMO, CTOS, EORTC, SELNET, and the Euro‑Ewing Consortium.
Prof. Palmerini has authored over 190 peer‑reviewed publications and contributed to several musculoskeletal oncology textbooks. She is a frequent invited speaker at global oncology meetings, recipient of numerous national and international research awards, and a recognized expert in guideline development for sarcoma treatment.
