I am happy that i am pursuing a PhD in the Molecular Biology Program of the Faculty of Medecine of the University of Montreal. I do my research at the research center of the Hospital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.
In my research project i will be characterizing the interactomes of the oncogenic fusions of sarcomas. Around 30 % of sarcomas are due to gene fusions. These fusions result in chimeric proteins with inappropriate and uncontrolled functions, as primary drivers of the pathogenesis. These chimeras create truncated interactions networks and protein-protein interactions, promoting aberrations in signaling modalities. The identification of the interactome of these chimeras will allow better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms, epigenetic and DNA-dependent processes of the disease. This would potentially reveal novel therapeutic targets.
