Massachusetts General Hospital
Dr. Myrsini Ioakeim Ioannidou earned her medical degree from the Medical School of Athens in 2019 and completed clinical rotations at renowned US institutions including Massachusetts General Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology at MGH, working under Dr. Shannon MacDonald and Dr. Kevin Liu, with a research and clinical focus on improving outcomes for patients with rare sarcomas, particularly chordomas and chondrosarcomas.
At MGH, Dr. Ioakeim Ioannidou developed the institution’s first comprehensive clinical database for patients with chordomas and chondrosarcomas treated with proton therapy, leveraging MGH’s extensive international referral base and its notable expertise in curative proton treatments for tumors historically considered radioresistant. She also directs the nationally and internationally attended Base of Skull Conference, which brings together multidisciplinary experts to review complex cases and advance clinical care.
Following completion of her fellowship, Dr. Ioakeim-Ioannidou aspires to embark on a U.S. residency training program in the field of radiation oncology.
