Dr. Akhil Jain is a hematology-oncology fellow at the University of Iowa with specialized training in leukemia from MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed his MBBS at BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, followed by medical oncology fellowship in India, where he practiced as a medical oncologist from 2014-2020 at leading cancer centers including Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute.
Dr. Jain has an extensive research portfolio with over 70 peer-reviewed publications spanning oncology, cardio-oncology, and hematologic malignancies. His work includes contributions to major Global Burden of Disease studies and a book chapter on cell cycle in clinical oncology. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences including ASCO, ASH, AHA, and ESMO, with research focusing on cancer outcomes, health disparities, and cardiovascular complications in cancer patients.
His clinical research has garnered significant media attention, with interviews featured in major medical outlets. Dr. Jain has served as clinical coordinator for multiple pharmaceutical trials investigating ALK inhibitors in lung cancer.
Dr. Jain is an active member of ASCO, ASH, SOHO, and the International Cardio-Oncology Society's Amyloidosis Working Group. He serves on the editorial board of Postgraduate Medical Journal and reviews for numerous oncology journals. His work has been recognized with the Gold Humanism Honor Society award and best poster presentations at regional conferences.
