Medical Oncology Resident

My name is Frederico Sarmento, I am 28 years old and I was raised in the Azores, Portugal. I am currently a third-year resident in Medical Oncology at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Lisbon.
I completed my medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, where I built a strong foundation in clinical medicine and biomedical sciences. After graduation, I returned to my home island, Terceira, to complete the Common Internship Year, followed by my first two years of residency in Internal Medicine.
Alongside my medical training, I pursued a postgraduate degree in Clinical Genetics and Genomics, driven by a deep interest in the molecular mechanisms of cancer and their application in precision medicine.
I actively participate in national and international medical congresses, where I continue to expand my knowledge, share experiences, and engage with colleagues across multiple disciplines.
My goal as a physician is to contribute not only to better clinical outcomes but also to the overall well-being and dignity of my patients.
