Dr. Catherine Sarre is a surgical oncologist and clinical researcher specializing in soft tissue oncology. She completed her General Surgery residency at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition in Mexico City, followed by a Master’s degree in Surgical Sciences with distinction from the University of Edinburgh and a Master’s in Health Administration.
Dr. Sarre joined the Division of Surgical Oncology at Western University as an Assistant Professor after completing advanced fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto and a Pelvic Sarcoma Surgical Research Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Her training also included international rotations in melanoma and sarcoma surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne and the National Cancer Institute in Milan.
Her research focuses on optimizing multimodal treatment strategies and surgical outcomes for retroperitoneal and pelvic sarcomas. She has contributed to several international collaborations, including the TransAtlantic Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group and the Society of Surgical Oncology Sarcoma Working Group. Dr. Sarre has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Annals of Surgical Oncology, European Journal of Surgical Oncology, and British Journal of Surgery.
A founding member of the Mexican Sarcoma Group, she leads initiatives in education and clinical research to advance regional sarcoma care. Her work bridges global collaboration and equity in cancer surgery, emphasizing data-driven, patient-centered sarcoma management.
