Katharina Bähr is a Research Scientist at the Cancer Information Service of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). She completed her Master' of Science in Psychology at the University of Ulm in 2023, specializing in health psychology and communication science.
Her current work focuses on evidence-based health communication in oncology, with a particular interest in how cancer information can be tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients, relatives, and the general public. At the Cancer Information Service, she contributes to projects that improve the accessibility, understandability, and impact of cancer-related information across various platforms.
In previous projects, she was involved in large-scale cross-sectional monitoring studies assessing knowledge, risk perception, trust and attitudes of the German population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the climate crisis. These experiences deepened her methodological expertise in survey design and quantitative analysis while fostering her interest in how communication shapes public understanding and decision-making across health and environmental topics.
Her research interests include health communication, prevention, and early detection across diverse target groups. By making complex scientific knowledge understandable and actionable, she aims to empower people to make informed health decisions.
