Medical Student
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
My name is Alina Kang and I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Miami, applying for psychiatry residency programs. I am originally from Tokyo, Japan, but grew up in the Bay Area in Cupertino, California. I obtained my B.S. degree in general biology and cognitive science at the University of California, San Diego. Before attending medical school, I took two gap years during which I was a caregiver for residents in the memory care unit of a senior home, a hospice volunteer, a tutor for students with special needs, and a volunteer at a homeless shelter. During medical school, I have been actively involved in Miami Street Medicine and the Doctors Within Borders free clinic. During my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, exploring restaurants with friends, and scallop hunting in the Crystal River.
