Medical Student
Duke University School of Medicine
Aron Mebrahtu is a third-year medical student at the Duke University School of Medicine pursuing a career in academic surgery, with a research focus at the intersection of tumor biology and translational therapeutics. His work primarily investigates the role of the NF-κB signaling pathway and its downstream targets in chondrosarcoma progression, with emphasis on understanding how cytoskeletal regulators such as LCP1 influence tumor invasion, survival signaling, and the tumor immune microenvironment (TME).
His broader academic interests include bridging molecular insights with surgical innovation and identifying actionable targets for rare, treatment-resistant cancers. When not in the lab or hospital, he enjoys basketball, cooking, and (perhaps most regrettably), rooting for the Carolina Panthers.
