Medical Oncologist
Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, Poland
Dr. Katarzyna Kisielewska is a medical oncologist at the Department of Soft Tissue/Bone Sarcoma and Melanoma, National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, Poland. Her clinical work focuses on the systemic treatment of skin cancers, including melanoma, as well as soft tissue sarcomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). She is actively involved in the care of patients with advanced malignancies and participates in clinical trials exploring new therapeutic options for GIST and other rare tumors.
Before joining the National Institute of Oncology, Dr. Kisielewska worked at the Department of Clinical Oncology, Centre of Oncology of the Lublin Region, where she gained extensive clinical experience managing patients with a wide range of solid tumors, including gastrointestinal, breast, genitourinary, and lung cancers. This period provided her with a strong foundation in general oncology and multidisciplinary cancer care.
She obtained her PhD in Clinical Immunology from the Medical University of Lublin, where her research focused on immune mechanisms in cancer pathogenesis. Her scientific interests combine tumor immunology with the clinical aspects of systemic therapy, reflecting her ongoing effort to bridge laboratory research with patient-centered oncology practice.
Dr. Kisielewska is particularly interested in understanding the biological determinants of treatment response and resistance, especially in GIST, and in applying this knowledge to optimize therapeutic strategies in clinical practice. She remains committed to continuous professional and scientific development, with the aim of contributing to advances in translational oncology and improving outcomes for patients with rare and aggressive cancers.
