Medical Student
UC Davis School of Medicine
My name is Branden Brooks, and I am a third-year medical student at UC Davis School of Medicine. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and am proud to be a first-generation college graduate and the first in my family to pursue a career in medicine. My younger brother is currently in his second year of dental school at UNLV, so healthcare is slowly becoming a family tradition.
I am an aspiring orthopedic surgeon with interests in sports medicine, joint replacement, and hand surgery. In 2023, I participated in the Nth Dimensions Summer Orthopedic Internship at Novant Health in Charlotte, NC, an experience that solidified my passion for orthopedics. Since then, I have been involved in multiple research projects spanning orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, and orthopedic oncology. Before medical school, I also spent five years conducting clinical cancer research at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, which continues to influence my academic interests today.
Beyond medicine, I am passionate about representation in healthcare and improving access to care for underserved populations. Outside of the hospital, you can usually find me playing basketball, hiking to waterfalls, traveling, trying new desserts, or going to classic car shows.
I am excited to be at the Annual CTOS Meeting, where I have the opportunity to combine my interests in orthopedics and oncology by presenting our research on metastatic pathological humeral fractures. I look forward to sharing our findings and connecting with leaders and peers who are advancing the field of connective tissue research.
